Stacked Fins
Stacked fins are a type of heat sink fin that are used in server coolers to improve heat dissipation. They are made by stacking a series of thin metal plates on top of each other, which creates a large number of air channels. These air channels help to reduce thermal resistance and improve heat dissipation.
Material preparation: The metal plates are cut to the desired size and shape
Stacking: The metal plates are stacked on top of each other, with a small gap between each plate
Joining: The metal plates are joined together, either by welding, brazing, or soldering
Finishing: The fins are cleaned and finished, if necessary
Assembly: The fins are attached to the heat sink base
Stacked Fin Features and Benefits
-
• Stacked fins allow for a high fin density, increasing the heat transfer area per unit volume
-
• The stacked configuration provides a substantial surface area for heat exchange, enhancing cooling efficiency
-
• The thin fins and minimal contact points between fins can help reduce thermal resistance
-
• Stacked fins can be used in various applications due to their customizable design
